Saguaros are a native plant to Troon North and are found exclusively in the Sonoran Desert. Young Saguaros often begin life under a nurse plant. The three main trees that typically become a nurse plant are the Mesquite, Palo Verde and Ironwood trees. These trees aid the Saguaros growth by protecting it. A 10 year old Saguaro is only about 1.5 inches tall, but will live as much as 150-200 years and grow between 40-60 feet tall. Saguaros are the largest cactus in the United States.
