Cinco De Mayo may as well be an official government holiday in Scottsdale. Despite what you might have heard, it is not a celebration of Mexican Independence Day. Instead, it is a celebration of the day that the Mexican Army overcame French forces at the Battle of Puebla, which is a source of pride for Mexico. Somehow this morphed into one of the biggest drinking holidays of the year, and there is no shortage of things to do in Scottsdale which is good news for anyone who wants to get out on the town that day.
The fun begins this weekend, when on May 2nd and 3rd you can get your party- on early at several Cinco-inspired festivities. El Hefe, located at 4425 N Saddlebag Trail in Old Town will be holding back- to -back parties which will feature plenty of drinking, dancing, eating and other shenanigans. Doors open at 10 am both days so that you can make the most of it. While you are in Old Town, be sure to stop by Dos Gringos, located at 4209 E Craftsman Court on May 5th. There will be DJ’s, games, drinks and great food.
Don’t want to drive that far north? Try the Sandbar in Desert Ridge. Three straight nights of craziness will ensue starting Saturday night, May 3rd. Watch the Kentucky Derby, the boxing match and celebrate Cinco De Mayo 2015 all at the same time. In addition, there will be live music, games, food and fun!
These are just a few examples of the craziness that will ensue around town on Cinco De Mayo 2015.
