The long awaited Museum of the West is taking shape in Old Town Scottsdale  near Arcadia at First street and Marshall Way and residents couldn’t be more excited about it. The $11.4 million museum will feature a variety of art, ideas, history and objects associatedold town scottsdalewith Arizona and the old west. There will be artifacts such as John Wayne’s business card,Navajo Chiefs blankets, objects associated with legendary man of the West, Kit Carson. In addition there will be an outdoor amphitheater that can accommodate hundreds of people and serve as a place for events, a plaza with a native cactus garden, and open air courtyard and more. Are from Georgia O’Keefe and Scholder and Russell will be displayed. The Virginia G Piper Charitable Trust Theater/Auditorium will offer a place for movies and special events. The museum is said to be “inspiring” and is expected to bring 87,000 to 118,000 yearly visitors to the museum. It is scheduled to open in January, 2015.
