heard museum photoIt’s that time of year again when we all start looking forward to a little bit of relief from the weather. Reprieve from the weather allows us to enjoy all the fabulous events coming up in the surrounding communities. So, as fall gets under way, mark your calendar because there are a couple events you must attend to appreciate all the city has to offer.

Starting at the end of the month The Desert Botanical Garden is host to a wonderful outdoor event aptly named Cork and Cactus. An amazing backdrop will help you enjoy over 80 wines from around the world and will also give attendees the opportunity to speak with representative from the wineries.

This is a great event for the wine aficionado in your family or any guests you have coming into town. Find a wine you cannot live without? All wines are available for purchase by the bottle and case with proceeds benefiting the Desert Botanical Gardens numerous programs. There will also be live entertainment (Sonoran Jazz on Friday and Shea Marshall Trio on Saturday) and food catered from Fabulous Food. Tickets are $30 for a 1 day pass or $50 for a 2 day pass and each includes admission to the garden too. The DBG event runs from September 28th (6-10PM) to September 29th (1-5PM) and is located at 1201 N. Galvin Parkway, Phoenix.

How about heading up north to celebrate the Arizona Honey Festival going on September 29th-30th? This wonderful annual festival to celebrate the delights of honey will be held at el Pedregal the Boulder Resort’s outdoor shopping center in Carefree at 34505 N. Scottsdale Road from 11AM-to 4PM Daily. The event will have live entertainment and numerous foods, cooking demonstrations, and even spa treatments that incorporate honey. There will be plenty of locally produced honey for purchase and you can enjoy a four course dinner on Saturday evening that is prepared by chefs from Biltmore, Boulders, Waldorf Astoria, and La Quinta Resort. Bring the kids along too, this is a family friendly event and there will be kids’ activities to enjoy.

Coming in October is the Scottsdale International Film Festival running from October 5th-9th. The Harkins Theater Shea 14 located at 7354 E. Shea Blvd. welcomes the 12th Annual Film Festival. SIFF consists of a wide genre of films from all over the world from mainstream to the more obscure. Numerous packages are available with regular tickets running $10 and shows starting before noon available for a 2-for-1 discount. Check it out, there is something for everyone.

This is just beginning of the season and there are many more events to come in the beautiful Scottsdale area.
