Shh!! It’s a family secret. Barro’s Pizza is a delicious and unique pizzeria that has perfected pizza making using a family secret. The Barro’s story begins with Grandma Angelina Barro in Sarconi, Italy cooking up authentic style pizza and pasta in the family home. These amazing recipes were then passed down through the family and eventually led to the opening of a thriving business called Barro’s. With over 30 locations in the valley two of which are in Scottsdale, Grandma Angelina must have had something right!
Our family’s favorite Barro’s location to dine in/order out is within walking distance to all the Grayhawk real estate we always talk about. Barro’s is in Grayhawk Plaza; located at 20701 North Scottsdale Road #101 (located next to Bashas). This location has a dark and cozy atmosphere with great over-sized booths where you can relax and enjoy delicious pizza, cold beer, and the game on one of the many flat screen TV’s. There is always a clean table and fast family friendly service when we visit.
Traditionally, our family orders a kid pizza, x-large with x-tra cheese, and an adult pizza, a Barro’s Special w/ pepperoni, onion, mushrooms, green peppers, and ham on thin crust (we add jalapeno’s too). The pizza is always piping hot and full of great flavor with the signature zesty sauce (family secret) and perfect crust that makes us crave Barro’s. One item we never seem to be able to resist is the traditional wings in both mild and BBQ flavors which are both amazing and a big hit with the whole family.
Barro’s is proud of its pizza and it shows with slightly higher prices than your average chain pizza place (about $3-5 more per pizza). We often order Barro’s when we want really good pizza and the quality and taste make it worth the cost! They offer daily specials too that are the best way to go and include Two large 1-item pizzas for $17.99, or One large 1-item pizza and 24 wings for $22.49 (upgrade to x-large for $1 more). If you would like to stop by for a quick lunch Barro’s has wonderful lunch specials where you can get a slice of pizza, a salad, and drink all for $4.25.
