Scariest Haunted Houses – Halloween 2021

haunted houseHaunting season is upon us and haunted attractions are open for Halloween 2021 throughout Phoenix. Here are six haunted attractions that are open for 2021, including Fear Farm and the 13th Floor that return this year with new sinister and gory themes to scare those who dare to enter!

Fear Farm

Fear Farm is at a new location this year in Glendale instead of Phoenix. There are five themed attractions and a haunted corn maze. The themes are: Sinister Circus, The Spirit of Halloween, Nuketown, Dead in the Water, and Dead End Slaughterhouse. There are various add-on options for general admission tickets, which are timed and start at $24.99, including fast pass and skip the line.

Sanctum of Horror

Are you up to visiting a “breeding ground of evil”? Visitors to the Sanctum of Horror in Mesa enter little Lenore’s childhood home and witness as her family members are murdered before joining her in an asylum where inmates have started experimenting on doctors. Will you become one of Lenore’s victims? There’s also “The Breach,” in which horror-seekers enter bunker 16 and encounter a rare leech on its path of destruction.

Scarizona Scaregrounds

Find blood, guts and gore at Mesa’s Scarizona Scaregrounds this year. The three haunted houses are Slayer’s Slaughter House, Epic Fear (which promises “total darkness”) and Startled Darkness, which has spiders, snakes and clowns in a dark, confined space. Tickets are timed and come in packages of one, two, four or six tickets. Closed-toe shoes are recommended.

Terror Nights

Terror Nights Haunted House is back with its 11th season in Tempe. You’ll find the neighborhood haunted house off Rural Road in south Tempe; signs on the main road should point you in the right direction. The event is free; some of the proceeds from donations will go toward the nonprofit Tempe Community Action Agency. Organizers will also accept donations of nonperishable foods “to help the needy this holiday season.”

13th Floor Haunted House

The 13th Floor Haunted House (which is owned by the same company as Fear Farm) returns with three themed attractions: “Bad blood,” “The Dollmaker” and “Asylum.” There are various add-on options for general admission tickets, which are timed and start at $19.99. Face coverings are recommended when social distancing is not possible.

House of Haunts

The family-run House of Haunts in Scottsdale is back for five nights leading up to Halloween. Guests are asked to wear masks while indoors, as there are actors in the haunted house, which takes about eight minutes to walk through. Stephen Birkett, who runs the event, has been doing House of Haunts since 1983.
