The Shemer Art Center in Arcadia offers an assortment of workshops this summer!
Figure Drawing with Amber Victoria
July 24th & July 25th, 10:00am-4:00pm (2 sessions) $125
An intensive two-day workshop exploring basic figure drawing concepts, focusing on capturing proportions and value through short gesture drawing sessions followed by gradually longer poses. Students will leave the workshop with several drawings and is open to all levels.
Uncial Medieval Lettering with Domenica Carbo
July 24th & 25th, 10:00am-3:00pm (2 sessions) $100
The day workshop will concentrate on 4th and 5th century uncial scripting. Uncial script refers to a single-stroke type of calligraphy made up of exclusively capital letters that was commonly used from the 4th to 8th century by Latin and Greek scribes. Paper and grids will be provided by the instructor, but students will be required to bring their own 3.5mm felt-tipped pen. This workshop is open to all levels.
Fused Glass for Beginners with Anne Mello
August 1st 10:00am-4:00pm (1 session) $100 class + $30 materials fee
This workshop is an introduction to the compatibility principles of different kinds of glass and how glass is affected by different temperatures. Students will design and create their own unique flat work of glass art. Everything needed to complete an original glass design will be included in this workshop. Tools to prepare glass work will be available for student use. Glass works produced in this workshop will be kiln fired and available for students to pick up a week later.
