If you have a home in Scottsdale, chances are you have visited WestWorld at some point. WestWorld is a premier, nationally recognized special events facility serving our North Scottsdale community and visitors. WestWorld is known primarily for hosting over 70 equestrian events each year such as the world renowned Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show, Parada Del Sol rodeo, Sun Country Quarter Horse show, and many other local and national horses. But did you know that it is also host to a variety of non-equestrian events, as well?
One such event is the Barrett-Jackson collector car auction. This event, usually held in January, is one of the biggest classic car auctions in the country. The nine- day event draws over 250,000 spectators and bidders and attracts both national and international visitors. The auction features over 1,000 collector and special interest automobiles.
Other events held at WestWorld are the Scottsdale Home and Garden show, Good Guys Hot Rod Southwest Nationals, Shrine Circus, Holiday Pet Festival, hot air balloon launches, and the Fiesta Cluster All Breed Dog Show. In addition, the state’s only Polo tournament field is here, boasting 19 acres that is split into two areas.
Did you know that other events such as weddings, social events and corporate meetings are held at Monterra at WestWorld? This 20,000 square foot hacienda style venue is available for rent. There are several ballrooms that offer adjacent views of the McDowell Mountains, patios with wood burning fireplaces and full service catering.
We are fortunate to have such an exciting venue as WestWorld here in Scottsdale. At this time, WestWorld is going through a $42.8 million expansion that will expand, enclose and climate control the Equidome in order to accommodate events year-round. This expansion will also add 40,000 square feet of space to host special events. This project is expected to be completed in 2013.
