Whether you just moved into a new neighborhood, or you have been in the same neighborhood for years, there are many of us who have never met our neighbors…two popular websites now help new and old neighbors connect. Nextdoor operates a free, private social network for individual neighborhoods and Neighborhood Link provides free websites for neighborhoods, HOAs and community organizations. Neighborhood Link also offers a premium upgraded version for $120.
So how does Nextdoor work? Enter your first and last name, email and address to verify where you live. Then you can view online comments from members in your neighborhood, this might include babysitter referrals, lost or found dogs, and yard sales.
Neighborhood Link provides an option that has more of a website format. Most Neighborhood Link users opt for the free version that has a few ads, although some groups like the password-protected areas and private discussion boards with no advertising in the premium version.
