A new trail has opened near Fountain Hills in McDowell Mountain Regional Park– Escondido- or “hidden” in Spanish- is the name of the trail. The 6.2 mile Escondido Trail opened in mid-December and marks the third new trail of five planned for the park. The new park brings the total trail mileage to 65. The trail is also linked to a camping area, which is nice for overnight campers. The trail is open to horseback riders and mountain bikers as well. The park features many events throughout the year such as moonlit hikes, fitness hikes and bird and wildlife walks.
