The September issue of North Scottsdale Lifestyle is all about The Joy of Life with a Pet. Inside you will find a variety of articles about our four legged friends.
Paw Posse– A locally owned company started by Hernan Charry in 2009 when he couldn’t find a Halloween costume large enough to fit is nearly 70 lb dog. Charry then spent 6 months researching the idea and creating an online store dedicated to the specific needs of large dogs. Paw Posse can be found at PawPosse.com and has now begun to add supplies for dogs of all sizes.
Temporary Home for a Lifetime of Love– The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) reports that across the nation over 3.9 million dogs enter shelters every year. Unfortunately, only about two-thirds find their original owner or are adopted. Thankfully, many passionate dog advocates all over the country are stepping up to help keep dogs out of shelters and into permanent homes. Here in the Arizona, dozens of dog rescues have emerged. Most of the rescue organizations do not have a facility to board dogs so they rely on dedicated networks of volunteers to foster the dogs. Two local rescue organizations are the Almost Home AZ Boxer Rescue and the Arizona Pug Adoption and Rescue Network. These organizations give dogs a realistic chance at their “happily ever after.”
Pet Food Pantries– During economic hard times families often give up their pet because they can not afford to feed them, but the good news is that there are many Valley programs to keep families together with their pets. Lost Our Home Pet Foundation is a non-profit pet rescue and food bank. They also offer a temporary care program and low income boarding for families in need.
