Desert Mountain in Running for $10K Grammy Grant
Desert Mountain High School’s performing arts department is in the running for a $1,000 to $10,000 grant after being selected as one of the 120 grammy Signature schools semifinalists. “Our performing arts department I really phenomenal, ” said Desert Mountain High School Principal Nikky Wilfert. “They are recognized for the amazing work that they do all the time. This takes it to a different level. It’s neat for people outside and the national level to see it, too.” To be considered, Desert Mountain officials had to complete a 10-part application that sought information its students and curriculum, such as music styles; period they study and perform; district, regional and state events and competitions they participated in; number of students involved in the program; and the amount of support the program receives form the district’s budget.
