Some events happening in and around Scottsdale for Veterans Day 2013:
Commemoration at Railroad Park
When: Monday, Nov. 11, 3 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Where: McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, 7301 E. Indian Bend Road, Scottsdale.
Guest speakers, live performers, and dignitaries will honor veterans at this free event. The Keynote speaker will be Dr. Connie Mariano, former White House doctor and first military woman to become physician to the president. Also featured are Arizona National Guard Adjutant General Michael T. McGuire and the 108th Army National Guard Band
Scottsdale Veteran’s Day event
When: Monday, Nov. 11. 10:30 a.m.
Where: Scottsdale City Hall, Chaplain Statue,3939 N. Drinkwater Blvd.
Among speakers at this event are two veterans who recently returned from serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Hosted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3513.
Paradise Valley
When: Saturday, Nov. 9. 8:30 a.m.
Where: Paradise Valley Town Hall, 6401 E. Lincoln Drive.
A free vintage car show hosted by Paradise Valley for residents in honor of veterans. Open to the public at 8:30 a.m.. At 11:30 a.m. a driving tour will take place.
Cave Creek
When: Saturday, Nov. 9. 10 a.m.-8 p.m.
The 2nd Annual Veterans Tribute Ride and After Party. The ride will start at Sanderson Ford, 5111 W. Maryland Ave., Glendale and ends at Harold’s Cave Creek Corral, 6895 E. Cave Creek Road. Information: aztributerides.com.
Carefree
When: Monday, Nov. 11, 3 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: Carefree Desert Gardens, Sanderson Lincoln Pavillion, 101 Easy Street.
Free and open to the public musical tribute will be hosted by The Town of Carefree. Packages From Home will collecting donations and items that will be shipped to troops overseas.
Fountain Hills
When: Monday, Nov. 11, 9 a.m. – 10 a.m.
Where: East El Lago Boulevard and East Kiwanis Drive, at Fountain Park.
Free Veterans Day ceremony featuring Ted Vogt, Director of Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services as keynote speaker. Enjoy Coffee and donuts after the ceremony at American Legion Post 58, 16837 E. Parkview Ave.
Congressman’s reception
When: Saturday, Nov. 9, 8 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
Where: U.S. Rep. David Schweikert district office, 10603 N Hayden Rd., Suite 108.
Schweikert honors veterans in a free open house. Featured participants in the Veteran’s Heritage Project. Free to the public. Donuts and coffee will be served.
