In the southeast pocket of the Valley just below Mesa lies Gilbert, the fourth-most populated of the Valley cities. The 76 square miles house around 240,000 residents (235,000 more than it did just a few decades ago) and provide a booming suburban business center, comfortable housing, and a cozy town feel. At a time known to be the ‘Hay Shipping Capital of the World’, Gilbert has come very far to modern times, now recognized as one of the safest and fastest growing cities in America. The city is known to have a great education system, and crime rates are one of the lowest in the entire nation. Entertainment, as with many Valley cities, is not hard to find. Encapsulated in the bounds of the city are dozens of top-notch golf communities, friendly shopping and dining centers, as well as the Hale Centre Theatre. The city is teeming with natural attractions, surprisingly including a riparian reserve and many outdoor hikes, tours, and other activities. The city offers diversity in many facets, with a unique architectural design and waterfront prominence in the desert landscape complementary to the residents, as the town is known to have high Mormon populations as well as a notable music scene. All in all, this locale offers a very comfortable and enjoyable scene for residents of all sorts, providing a great spot for anyone to call home.
