The city of Goodyear rests in the deep southwestern corner of the Valley, serving as the western frontier spanning 115 miles with a population of 75,000. With 300 days of sunshine and a large land area, Goodyear continues to grow with other Valley cities and projects to be one of the bigger populations in the state by 2030. Named after the tire company, which once grew cotton within the town’s fertile soil, Goodyear has developed into one of the more accommodating Valley residential areas. Due to these hefty expectations, the city has a surprisingly vast selection of activities, with a little bit of everything for everyone. The city offers multiple renowned golf courses and fabulous hikes, but also hundreds of fine dining, shopping and entertainment options. Set to open in 2016 is the Estrella Falls Mall, a 1.1 million square foot mecca of merchandise is in place to compliment the already accommodating shopping options available. March brings both the Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds in to play at Goodyear Ballpark for MLB spring training, and the town rests fairly close to University of Phoenix Stadium for football season. Already established communities such as the beautiful Estrella Mountain Ranch give insight into how the development of housing may lead to a future Valley hotspot. The city also features its own airport, multiple school options for students, and over 150,000 homes to be built in the future. Goodyear is an intriguing option with high upside for families, individuals, and couples alike- particularly over the next couple of decades. With a little bit of everything, it’s hard not to like what this up-and-coming city has to offer.
