Desert Canyon Middle School is located at 10203 E. McDowell Mountain Ranch Road. It is conveniently situated in the heart of McDowell Mountain Ranch and serves 6-8 grade middle-schoolers from the Ranch and surrounding areas.
Desert Canyon Middle School is one of the few public middle schools in Arizona to receive a distinguished Great Schools rating of 9 out of 10. All schools in the Scottsdale Unified School District have been rated as Performing or better, and DCMS is no exception. DCMS received a Performing rating this year. Desert Canyon Middle School has much to offer and many parents choose this school because they offer the only self-contained gifted program in the district. The students enrolled in the gifted program generally go on to join the International Baccalaureate program Desert Mountain High School. DCMS also offers athletics such as basketball, boys and girls volleyball, co-ed soccer, softball, flag football and track.
Another unique fact about Desert Canyon Middle school is that the Arabian Library is located on the campus. The library has many amenities that middle-schoolers will appreciate such as a designated teen study space, 41 computers in a computer lab, and a beautiful patio with a coffee bar.
