The parent group a Black Mountain Elementary is extremely active and volunteers are encouraged to support the school.
Arts and community minded, the Parent Teacher Organization coordinates family oriented events like the Fall Festival and the Fine Arts Festival. They also have a Grandparents Parenting Group that meets monthly. Parents, grandparents and guardians are general members of the PTO.
Along with the strong academic focus of the school, the children can take advantage of the many programs Black Mountain has to offer: Art, Music, Physical Education, Special Education, Go Math, Accelerated Reader, All-day Kindergarten, Spanish Program, Second Step Program, Meet the Masters Mini Museum, Whole School Cluster Grouping Model.
