Cactus Shadows High School is located in the Cave Creek school district. With a student population of 2,500, it is one of the largest schools in the state. However, Cactus Shadows has many academic opportunities and diverse programs of study for students from all backgrounds. Some of the programs they offer are the International Baccalaureate program, Honors Education, and Early College program in partnership with Paradise Valley Community College. In addition to a strong academic program, Cactus Shadows has an excellent athletic program with six sports teams that have won state championships. They also offer over 25 clubs for students to join including S.A.D.D., National Honor Society, Year Book, and Photography club just to name a few.
If your teen can’t find a club at school he would like to join, the Desert Foothills YMCA is right next door. Your student can walk there after school where they offer such activities as a rock climbing, swimming, circuit training, and aerobics classes. There is even a recording studio if your teen has musical aspirations. They also offer a Teen Leadership program, Teens After School Get Together, community outreach services and workforce programs.
