Kindergarten Bound in Scottsdale and North Phoenix… finding the right fit for your future elementary student.
Parents of preschool children bound for Kindergarten in the fall may be weighing options for the best fit for elementary school. For those who reside in Scottsdale and North Phoenix, many are checking out all the local public schools. How fortunate all of us homeowners are to reside in either Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) or Paradise Valley Unified School District (PVUSD) rated two of the best districts in the state. (*to clarify, PVUSD have many of their schools in Scottsdale and Phoenix, not Paradise Valley)
If you are new to the elementary experience, you will soon understand there are boundaries for each of the schools. If you are “out of the boundary” for a school, you may have the option of “open enrolling”. For some of the schools which have the maximum amount of students in their building are “closed to open enrollment”. Always double check on the status of a school before getting your hopes up, if you are “out of boundary”. I’ve heard of many people who choose relocate and buy a new home to get into a “closed” school.
I would suggest anyone who is shopping for a school to attend a Kindergarten Round Up at any of the SUSD Elementary Schools or PVUSD Elementary Schools. Many schools in both districts host such an event… call or check their website to verify if a school does have such an event. At Kindergarten Round Up, your child will have an opportunity to view the school, meet the Kindergarten teachers and you can register on that evening if you so choose.
