Mountain Trail Middle School opened in the fall of 2002, the school’s motto is simple, yet very important: “Work Hard. Be Nice to People.” The staff at the PV District – Mountain Trail Middle School are dedicated to making the transition from elementary to middle school safe and rewarding. The school of 850 students is led by Principal Craig Lahlum, a 1976 Paradise Valley High School graduate and has an 8 out of 10 rating on GreatSchool.org.
Mountain Trail Middle School, located at 2323 E. Mountain Gate Pass, provides Cave Creek neighborhood students a highly academic school with rich and rigorous curriculum. They continue the Core Knowledge® curriculum offered at all the elementary schools within the Mountain Trail boundaries (Boulder Creek, Eagle Ridge, Grayhawk, Pinnacle Peak and Sunset Canyon). The Core Knowledge® is based on the idea that elementary and middle school students need a solid, specific, shared core curriculum to help students establish strong foundations of knowledge, create greater fairness, and achieve higher literacy. Mountain Trail feeds into Pinnacle HS.
A variety of extracurricular activities are offered at Mountain Trail Middle School, including the Art Club, Builder’s Club, Guitar Club and Physics Club. Basketball, softball, football, volleyball, track and wrestling are also offered after school.
