Sunrise Middle School is located at 4960 E. Acoma Dr., in the Scottsdale Cactus Corridor neighborhood. It’s in the Paradise Valley School District and recieved an 8 out of 10 rating from GreatSchool.org. Arizona native Principal Greg Martin has been leading Paradise Valley Unified School District’s Sunrise Middle School since 2002. In 2007 Martin was an inductee into the “Circle of Honor,” an award sponsored by the Arizona Department of Education, which recognizes the top 1% of principals in the state of Arizona.
Sunrise is a high-achieving school with a record of academic success for 7th and 8th graders. The school’s mission is to “motivate students to achieve success and embrace responsibility within a dynamic learning environment.” Sunrise is the district’s only Digital Learning Center for the Gifted (DLC). The objective of the DLC program is to develop and implement an information technology-infused middle school program for gifted students.
The school mascot for Sunrise Middle School is the Aztecs and their school colors are red, black and yellow. Students can show their school spirit by being involved in extracurricular activities such as: student council, yearbook, drama club and the festival sports programs.
